The exhibit includes memorabilia from local high schools, including photographs, trophies and autographed helmets, yearbooks, programs, letter sweaters, and pennants.Curated by local historian Michael O'Bryant and Genealogy & Local History Department librarian Sara Curtis, the exhibit combines materials from the Library’s collection and the archives of local high school athletic departments and alumni associations. It chronicles the first interscholastic football game played in the area: Hughes vs. Woodward in 1878. Also on display is the 1896 Bartlett Trophy from Walnut Hills High School, the winner of the first official city high school championship. 

 

Rivalries, Championships and Legends pays tribute to local players who went on to distinguished careers, among them: Roger Staubach (Purcell); Bob Crable (Moeller); Carlos Snow (Cincinnati Academy of Physical Education); Dave Foley and John Socko Wiethe (Roger Bacon); Mike Sensibaugh (Lockland); Bob Hoernschemeyer (Elder); Ray Nolting (Hughes); Harlan Barnett (Princeton); Walter Johnson, Cid Edwards, Al Nelson and Carl Ward (Taft High School); Ahmed Plummer (Wyoming); Glenn Sample (Western Hills); Marc Edwards (Norwood); Greg Stemrick (Lincoln Heights); and Dana Stubblefield (Taylor).
