About this collection

The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America were originally issued in 30 parts from 1845-1848 and were drawn from nature by John James and John Woodhouse Audubon. The drawings were printed and colored by J.T. Bowen of Philadelphia. Plate LXXVIII (Black-tailed Deer) is missing from the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County's copy of Volume 2. In its place is an additional copy of plate LXVIII (Fox Squirrel).
